I'm a ART student.

Art encompasses a huge range of unknown things. Sometimes art is very complicated and at other times it can be simple. The love of Art has stayed with me, developed, grown and now, I cannot imagine life without it.

 

Most of my artworks represent me. My overall theme is Two Faced Self, because most people have difference between appearance and inner of mind. Therefore, I went deep into a study how I can show my meaning of theme into each different studio pieces. From an early age, I moved around many different countries, and I feel that art is based on cultural references and environment. My art reflects Korea, China and Western countries because I am a ‘third culture kid’ born in Korea, live in shanghai and I go to a British International School. Therefore I search various artists, showing sense of all cultures.

 

I like to visit Art galleries and exhibitions because I think it helps students to think more about creativity and realize all the different methods to show their own art. All of the artist give me a good effect. The artists that influenced me most are Yue Minjun, Kacey Wong; Niki de saint Phalle and Yago Partal and they helped me to create sensational studio pieces. I feel I take a fancy to making 3D sculptures. I use many different techniques; some of which are mixed media, painting, drawing, Photoshop, and three-dimension sculptures. For making, I try many different sources creating my artworks. These give me challenges and developing self.

 

All of my art experiences doing IB Visual Art gave strengthened me to become self-motivated, developed my personal skills and organization. I feel visual art is a way to open the mind, a way to communicate and share ideas and information in many different formats.
